Have you thought about why you give to charity? Based on their research concerning affluent individual donors, Russ Alan Prince and Karen Maru File identified seven segments (“faces”) of donors and their main reasons for giving to charity. Pause for a moment and think about what makes you angry, sad, happy, passionate or fearful for the future. Those are strong indicators of issues and concerns you care about. [...] Creating an inventory of your recent giving can be a great way to start focusing your giving. Who did you give to? How much? What triggered the donation? What’s their mission?
